A Great Idea!

Okay! I was at my in-laws today for Easter and throughout the course of the day there were numbers of pictures taken. This is to be expected when there are five or six grandchildren and a crapton of older people. So I was taking a picture of my daughter and her cousin Scarlett on their grandma Terry's lap, and I was purposefully trying to make sure it was an exceptionally bad picture of Terry, just to fuck with her. She threatened me and asked me to delete it and I explained to her that it was my art, and I didn't have to compromise my artistic values simply to please her. Typical smartass fashion. Then my brother-in-law came up with one of those muse-like moments about making a collection of bad snapshots and calling it art and selling it.

LIGHT BULB!

What about an opposite Flickr? What about a website devoted to crappy photography? What about a website that had posts of nothing more than party quality drunken snapshots of people you know and love? Granted there is Myspace.com, and Flickr.com is not too far behind, for the most part, but I think that it would be fun, and of course funny. I did a preliminary search for bad snapshots, and candid pics and came up empty, with exception to sites that have sections for that. But I want an entire site devoted to the everyday picture. The camera phone picture. The "Oh shit! Delete that now!" picture.

Give me some feedback fellows.

  1. um, yeah.. not sure about the audience for bad pictures... sure it's fun to take them, but looking at them on a large scale basis? Common, the funny about a bad picture is the "ooo ya that's a good one... aww, look at that...hehe, that's nice...OOOOOH! That's terrible!"

  2. There's a site out there devoted to embarrassing pics (mainly people passed out and then decorated with markers, stacked beer cans, or any number of things) but I forget the URL. That's the closest thing I can think of. If you did something like this, I think you'd have to focus more on the ownage aspect than as a simple photo repository for embarrassing pics.

The ante would have to be upped, so to speak, like with all newest images being front paged, and voted on (the more votes, the longer it stays, or gets dumped into a wall of shame, or something to that effect).
